When it’s time to relax, perhaps reflect, when it’s time to unplug; quiet, simple music often enhances the experience. And there's nothing quite like the soothing melodies of a folksong to transport me to a place of serenity and contemplation.
To help remind me of the things that inspired me and evoke the emotions of when life felt simpler and more meaningful.
Modern life can get hectic. It often feels like a runaway train picking up speed with every second. You gotta ride it out, but in the midst of this chaos, folksongs can become the gentle reminder of the beauty that lies in simplicity and connection to nature, grounding us and reminding us.
When I pick up my guitar to sing an old Woody Guthrie, John Prine or Cat Stevens tune, feel the vibration of the strings in my chest, smell the blend of wood, laquer and polish, I take hold of a thread that reaches back to the earliest days of me discovering who I was. A time when I really began to become aware of the timeless things in this world and which ones I needed to bring into to my heart.
I’ve been working this musical craft for many years now. I’ve taken many side roads, but in the end there is me and my guitar.
“Oh very young what would you leave us this time…”
